Contra Dance: Heliotrope with Gwen Rousseau calling - Friday, March 13 2020

Heliotrope:  After many years of playing together informally, Robin Brown, Paul Englesberg, and Michael Hobart formed the trio, Heliotrope, in 2013. In January of 2019 bass player, Greg Sherman joined the band. With an emphasis on fluid melodies, stylish harmonies, driving rhythms, and musical surprise, Heliotrope provides a distinctive blend of modern and traditional contradance music. Our sets include a unique and eclectic admixture of tunes from a wide range of sources: northern traditions (Celtic, French Canadian, New England); classical composers (Mozart, Bach); contemporary artists (including pieces composed by band members); plus occasional works from Scandinavia and Appalachia. We thrive on leaving dancers with happy and tired feet, a satisfying musical experience, and a yearning for more.

Caller Gwen Rousseau leads the way with a steady hand and light heart!

The caller will be using non-traditional role terminology.  Larks and Robins will be used for the entire dance.

PLEASE NOTE:   NO Potluck for this Friday evening dance.

Dance held at Village School, 3411 Willamette Street in Eugene! $8-$10, members $6-$10.

Lesson at 7:00 pm. Dance begins at 7:30 pm.
